Painting the van

Before the final prep work could take place I asked the paint shop guys to pull a rear deck lid hanger straight, this was pushed in a few mil when I hit the deck lid, see the deck lid repair post for more on that.

The rest of the van still needed a lot of prep mostly where I'd replaced the panels

And the back corners needed plenty of touching up

The van then got another coat of primer

Then the outer seams were sealed

And any pin holes dealt with.

Back in the booth with the cab prepped.

The engine bay got a coat of paint

Along with the cab area

With the lower half in cream base coat it was masked up ready for a top colour to be added.

The top is a GM (general motors) Black gold sometimes called Saturn Black
and the lower is the BMW Mini pepper white.

The roof got covered and the lacquer applied to the sides.

Quick shot of the lacquer on the top

When the sun light hits the Black paint it shows the gold fleck, this gives the van a black look in low light and a brown in direct sun light.

Once left to dry for a while the lacquer was cut back and then polished
The whole van will need another cut and polish once the lacquer has more time to cure.
